Hemodialysis and Hemodiafiltration
Hemodialysis removes waste and excess fluid when the kidneys cannot meet the body’s needs. Hemodiafiltration, or HDF, combines dialysis with additional filtration and may be considered for suitable patients where available.
Your Clinical Care Pathway
Before treatment, staff check your weight, blood pressure and access.
During each session, blood passes through a filter and returns to you.
The prescription, fluid removal and treatment time are tailored and reviewed alongside symptoms and laboratory results.
Expected benefits and limitations
Dialysis supports life and may improve fluid-related breathlessness and symptoms of waste accumulation. It does not cure established kidney failure. Cramps, low pressure, fatigue, bleeding and infection can occur; individual HDF benefit is not guaranteed.
